Historically known for primarily being used as a blending grape for the purpose of adding color, tannin and aromatics, the 2021 vintage provided us with a wonderful opportunity to produce a varietal Petit Verdot and we jumped at the chance. Bold aromas of black plums, wild blackberries, lilacs, kirsch, and star anise front an energetic palate full of red cherries, raspberries, fresh herbs, and dried violets. Additional flavors of crushed gravel, incense, and red plums emerge as the wine continues to open, all supported by waves of fruit forward tannins that lead into an energetic and juicy finish.
